The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will play a key role in the design and development of low voltage switchgear systems. This individual will lead the engineering team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, a proven track record in designing low voltage switchgear, and the ability to provide technical leadership.
About this role
Key responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and development of low voltage switchgear systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and specifications for low-voltage switchgear projects.
- Utilise software and other design tools to create accurate and efficient electrical designs.
- Provide technical leadership to the engineering team, offering guidance and expertise in the field of low voltage switchgear.
- Responsible for the selection integration, and function of the power and control system components.
- Work closely with the electrical and mechanical teams to ensure the equipment works as per specification.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
- Take ownership of project timelines, ensuring that design milestones are met in accordance with project schedules.
- Conduct thorough design reviews and provide input on design optimisation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical design issues that may arise during testing.
- Create comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, test plans, and reports.
- Ensure that all design documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 + years of experience in electrical design for low voltage switchgear.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software and other relevant design tools.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to low voltage switchgear.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
