Capital unveils ambitious Sustainability Strategy aligned with Global Goals.
Capital, a leader in LV switchgear solutions, has launched a comprehensive Sustainability Strategy aimed at fostering a more sustainable, resilient, and responsible future. This initiative aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and underscores Capital’s commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and strong governance.
Since its founding in 2012, Capital has grown rapidly, expanding from 6 to 90 employees, with projections to reach 120 by 2027. Throughout this growth, the company has prioritized sustainable profit, employee well-being, and transparent communication, highlighted by regular townhall meetings and social activities.
A significant milestone was reached in early 2024 when Capital earned a Bronze certification from EcoVadis, recognizing its dedication to sustainability. However, the company aims to elevate its performance by enhancing waste and energy monitoring systems and conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) on its products. These efforts are part of a broader goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 for Scope 2 emissions and by 2050 for Scope 1 emissions.
Capital’s strategy is built on five key pillars: regulatory compliance, improved efficiency, cost savings, meeting customer expectations, and fostering a sustainable work environment for staff retention.
Key Environmental Initiatives:
- Green Team Formation: Establishing baseline measures for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
- Renewable Energy: Transitioning to renewable energy sources, including a potential solar-powered carport at the new premises.
- Energy Monitoring: Implementing a live energy monitoring system by Q4 2024.
- ISO50001 Certification: Targeting ISO50001 certification by Q3 2025 to enhance energy management.
- Life Cycle Management: Conducting LCAs for all product lines to support the development of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
Social Initiatives:
- Career Development: Formalizing programs for career growth and further education.
- Employee Health and Wellness: Ensuring equitable access to wellness programs and improving workplace culture
Governance Initiatives:
- Regulatory Compliance: Renewing and expanding certifications, including ISO50001 and improving EcoVadis ratings.
Capital’s Sustainability Strategy marks a crucial step in its journey towards sustainable growth, demonstrating its dedication to reducing environmental impact while contributing positively to society.
